This guy walked up to us as we were walking along the beach in Haiti and said 'My arm hurts...can you take a look at it?' Assuming something minor, I was shocked to see that his upper arm had a complete fracture of the humerous about halfway down...and it had been untreated for 2 years. After a year, the incredible pain kind of went away and he still has use of the arm because the muscles have grown to hold the arm together. Moving his arm, which was painless to him, made my knees turn to jelly. It isn't right that this has gone on for 2 years and hasn't been treated because he has no money and no access to care. We are no longer in Haiti (this happened almost on the last day) but we have his contact info and are trying to arrange someone in Haiti to do the surgery to put his arm back together (before his brachial artery gets severed by the freely moving broken bone). This is what it means to have no access to care...that this can go on for over 2 years. I can't imagine what the first year was like.

One of the biggest legends of Portuguese football, Luís Figo, granted an interview to "FCInterNews.it", where he not only talked about how his life changed after ending his career on the pitches, but also commented on how the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi should be looked upon. Luís Figo asked for people to stop comparing the two players and to simply admire their tremendous qualities, distinctly. Figo's illustrious career in football, includes passages in clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, so the Portuguese is definately a well credited person to talk about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Figo started by affirming that the best Portuguese player remains being Eusébio, replying to the journalist when he asked him to choose between him and Cristiano Ronaldo. I knew that I had lost my physical levels, as well as I was losing that typical motivation we have when we are younger. It was the right time and I just said to myself that it was time to hang the boots up." Figo is now studying in IESE Business School, University of Navarra, since one os his passions is to manage businesses in different areas such as real estate, hotels, bars and tourism. Moreover, the Portuguese has also started a social media platform project in 2009, to allow young kinds who have the dream of becoming of a professional football player, to send their videos and films and show what their skils and what they can do. Cristiano Ronaldo left his mark in last night match, scoring an impressive hat-trick, which allowed Real Madrid to beat Chivas Guadalajara by 3-0. Real Madrid added a second win to their pre-season record, after beating Chivas Guadalajara by 3-0, last night in San Diego. Man of the match was without any doubts Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored an hat-trick and already has 4 goals in 2 matches in this 2011-2012 pre-season tour. However, the game wasn't that easy as the final score could imply or suggest. The Mexican side was definately a tougher nut to crack, when compared to the previous Real Madrid opponent, L.A. Galaxy. Chivas presented a very high competitive aggressiveness, a bit unusual to see in friendly matches, putting Real Madrid against the ropes in a few moments of the game. Another pleasant surprise from last night match was Fábio Coentrão's great performance as center midfielder. The Portuguese player replaced Xabi Alonso, who was said to be a starter in this match, but ended up by complaining about pains on his back and decided not to risk his condition. Fábio Coentrão is showing the Spanish press how versatile he is, and how good of an investment he'll end up being, even with the price tag of 30 million euros. The Portuguese player plays at his best as a left-back, but he also fits very well when playing as a winger and more recently as a center midfielder, giving a different dynamic to the team when he gets the ball on his feet. Cristiano Ronaldo commented about the newcomers in Real Madrid and confessed how impressed he is so far.Cristiano Ronaldo: "The rookies are really surprising me. They are working tremendously well." CR7 scored his hat-trick in only 10 minutes during the second half, but that wasn't enough to impress the Portuguese star. "Three goals in 10 minutes? That's ok... But we have to keep working in order to be well prepared for the beginning of the season. This game has proved to be a good test and I'm happy because we won it.", said Ronaldo, moments after the game against Chivas.

Filmmaker Eric Steel was shocked when he first read that an average of 20 people kill themselves by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge every year. He was also amazed by the lack of effort to prevent these suicides. "Most bridges where, or high places, if it's high enough that it would be a fatal fall, have put up suicide barriers precisely for this reason," Steel said. He was equally amazed by bridge officials' response to the suicides.
